Anil R Cooke
Anil R Cooke is the Managing Director / CEO of Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC – a leading Tea and Commodity Broking house and Auction Logistics company in Sri Lanka. He is an industry veteran, with a wealth of experience counting 37 years in the trade. A member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK), he has been an active contributor in developing the marketing strategy for Sri Lanka’s range of specialty Ceylon Teas. He currently serves as Chairman of the Colombo Brokers’ Association, Director of the Sri Lanka Tea Board and is a Committee member of the Colombo Tea Traders’ Association. He is also a member of the Sri Lanka Tea Council and Promotion and Marketing Committee of the Sri Lanka Tea Board.
Asgher Ali is currently a consultant at Tetley Clover Pakistan Limited. Mr. Ali has over 20 years experience at Lipton where he headed the tea buying department and worked across Pakistan, UK, Colombo and Mombasa. He led the unified tea buying operation when Lipton merged with Levers, and on the amalgamation of Lever Brothers Pakistan Limited and Brook Bond Pakistan Limited, assumed the overall in-charge for the Tea Buying department. He has been elected Chairman of Pakistan Tea Association on different occasions.
Dan Bolton edits STiR Tea & Coffee Industry International and is the publisher of Tea Journey mobile magazine. He is the former editor and publisher of Tea Magazine and former editor of World Tea News. Mr. Bolton was also editor-in-chief of Specialty Coffee Retailer for several years. He worked as a newspaper reporter and editor for 20 years prior to magazines, and is the founder of Natural Food magazine and has led six publishing ventures since 1995. He resides in Winnipeg, Canada.
Christian Dinkler has been with the Martin Bauer Company since 2007 as Head of Sales for fruit and herbal infusions for the tea industry. He is responsible for the worldwide sales activities within Martin Bauer. His presentation will identify emerging trends in the industry that show significant impact on the fruit and herbal infusion market in terms of flavour profiles, product positioning and packaging approaches.
Francis Wachira has over 20 years of research experience on tea, part of which he served as the Director of the Tea Research Foundation of Kenya. He is currently serving as Interim Executive Secretary of the Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA). He has authored a total of 130 scientific articles in peer refereed journals and served as a peer reviewer for several high impact journals. Mr. Wachira has developed six improved tea cultivars widely commercialised in Africa and also applied for three patents. He has carried out consultancy projects on tea in East Africa and Asia, within which he served as a World Bank consultant in a Competitive Enterprise Development Programme to develop research capacity for the Tea Industry in Rwanda.
Hasan Onder was born in a small tea village in Rize, Turkey and is a graduate of University of Istanbul. Since 2009, he has been working for Rize Commodity Exchange and promoting Turkish Tea and Turkish Tea Culture. Mr. Onder has taken part in many international tea events recently in countries such as BAE, Iran, China, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Japan, Kenya, Russia and Belarus. He is also a representative of the Tea Masters Cup in Turkey.
Hasitha De Alwis
Hasitha De Alwis is Promotion Director, International of the Sri Lanka Tea Board. With over 31 years of Senior Executive experience at Sri Lanka Tea Board, Mr. De Alwis also served as the Sri Lankan Tea Promotion Officer for North Africa & West Asia based in Cairo for six years from 1985 to 1991. He also set up a new Unit in Moscow, Russia in 1993 and covered the promotional activities for Ceylon Tea in CIS countries until 1996. In 2004 Hasitha set up a new unit in Tokyo, Japan and covered the promotional activities for Ceylon in Asia Pacific region until 2008. Since 2014 he is stationed in Dubai covering the promotional activities for Ceylon Tea in the Middle East/Gulf/North Africa.
Hawraz Jamal is a young businessman and the General Manager of Sheraz Int. Trade & Transport, a family owned business in Iraq-Kurdistan. He has six years of experience in the Logistics Business and trading various foodstuff commodities such as tea. He Holds a BBA and MBA in Business Administration & Economics from the American University in Iraq-Sulaimani.
Ian Midgley has been Chairman of the Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP) since 2011. The ETP is a not-for-profit organisation funded by tea packing companies with a strong track record of supporting improved sustainability in the tea industry. Ian was previously Chief Supply Chain Officer at Unilever and also now works as an advisor to senior operations professionals.
Imdat Sutluoglu is the General Director of Caykur and the President of the Turkish National Tea Council. He owned a tea manufacturing factory between 1998 and 2002 and has held a number of prominent positions in Turkey including Mayor of Ardesen, Member of Parliament and Minister of Environment. Born in Rize, Turkey, Mr. Sutluoglu is a graduate of the University of Istanbul.

Mitra Mobayen is the Managing Director of Tala Tea and is also on the Board of Directors for Mani Tea Trading Co. Before pursuing her passion for tea professionally, Ms. Mobayen was a Financial Advisor for American Express between 1995 to 2001.
Manuja Peiris is Chief Executive/ Statistician with the International Tea Committee (ITC). Over the past 25 years, he has been responsible for steering the ITC forward, taking into account the diverse views of various stakeholders. He works tirelessly to expand membership and make the compilation of statistics increasingly comprehensive. Mr. Peiris travels extensively and continues to reach out to trade connections in producing and non-producing countries. This has contributed to making the ITC a stronger body that serves the tea industry.
Manoj Berry is the Founder and Director of Embrand, a design and branding agency. His past clients include Choithrams, Dubai World and Sony India amongst many others. Mr. Berry holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Marketing Management Certificate. He also acts as a visiting professor on Strategic Brand Management at SPJ International Centre of Management (Dubai and Singapore) and Times School of Marketing in Delhi.
Ramaz Chanturiya belongs to a family of tea specialists. Since 2001, he has been leading an association of the largest tea and coffee operators in Russia called Rusteacoffee. In 2013 he also became Co-Founder and Chairman of the Tea Masters Cup. His career spans over 25 years in the tea business with experience in the field of tea production and marketing of tea brands. Currently, he is also the Chief Editor of the professional magazines Coffee&Tea in Russia and Coffee&Tea International.
Sangeeta Kichlu is a professional tea taster and President, Marketing of Assam Company. The daughter of a tea planter, Mrs. Kichlu has over 35 years experience in the tea industry starting her career as the first female tea taster. She has worked with companies including Thompson Lloyd & Ewart, Carritt Moran & Co, Tata Global Beverages Ltd and Jay Shree Tea & Industries. Mrs. Kichlu was the Chairperson of the Calcutta Tea Traders Association in 2010 and is currently the Vice Chairperson at CII, of the Committee on Women’s Empowerment as well a member of the CII, West Bengal Council.
Sammuel Ogola is a key member of the Country Delegation to the 18th, 19th 20th and 21st Sessions of FAO –IGG on Tea and its working Groups. He has strong leadership and business development skills developed over the last twenty years during which he has worked at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock Dev and Fisheries, The Coffee Board and the Tea Board. He holds an Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA) specialising in Leadership and Business Systems Development, Masters in Business Administration (MBA) specialising in International Trade and Business, and Bachelor Degree in Science (Agricultural Engineering).
Sushant Dash is the Regional President – India of Tata Global Beverages Limited and is responsible for spearheading business growth plans for the region and leading the marketing and sales strategy for India. Since joining the organisation in 2000, he has successfully handled various strategic and operational roles including Marketing Head for India, Senior Director – Marketing and Business Development for Tata Starbucks, and Global Brand Director of Tata Global Beverages. Prior to joining the Company, he worked at ORG Marg in various capacities in Consumer and Market Research. He holds a post graduate degree from Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad (MICA) and is a graduate in Economics from Ravenshaw University, Cuttack.
Suresh Kumar Agarwal
Suresh Kumar Agarwal is the President of the Nepal Tea Planters Association and the First Chairman of the Nepal Tea Auction. Mr. Agarwal manages three tea estates in Nepal spread over 500 hectares of free hold land. He possesses a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) and over 20 years’ experience in the tea industry.
Tuan Doan Anh
Tuan Doan Anh is the Founder and CEO of Future Generation Company. Since its inception in 1996, Future Generation Company has developed into the largest group in the Vietnamese tea industry with 15 tea factories across the country. As a senior tea expert, Mr. Doan Anh also served as President of Vietnam Tea Association from 2011-2014. Born in 1969, he is a graduate of Moscow University of Autotech.
Yu Lu is a graduate of Beijing Business College and holds a master’s degree in economics from Nankai University. From 1988 to 2001, Ms. Lu worked for the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC). She has also worked for the Department of Foreign Trade of Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and successively held the posts of deputy Director and Director. Since 2010, Ms. Lu is the Vice President of CFNA. Her work focuses on import and export, meetings and exhibitions, involving tea and beverage, meat, dairy products, aquatic products, imported food, wine and alcohol, ornamental plants.
